Slinky Dog Dash has missed three full operating days at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, turning a short outage into a trip-planning issue. The coaster did not open August 31, September 1, or September 2 after also experiencing lengthy downtime on August 28 and 29.
Disney has not announced a cause or reopening date. Guests should treat the ride as unavailable until it appears as operating in My Disney Experience, without assuming that an observed train or open equipment panel explains the problem.

Slinky Dog Dash Has Been Closed Since August 31
The unplanned closure began Monday, August 31 and continued through Wednesday, September 2. The coaster had also been unavailable for several hours on the preceding Friday and Saturday.
Cast Members could not give reporters a reason or return date and expected the ride to remain closed September 3. That is an on-site expectation, not a confirmed reopening schedule from Disney.
A Stopped Train Does Not Confirm the Cause
A Slinky Dog Dash train was visible at the second launch, with an electrical panel open nearby. Those observations show where work was happening; they do not prove an electrical failure or explain the full closure. Disney has not announced a refurbishment.
What to Do Before Heading to Toy Story Land
- Check the app before entering: Do not build rope drop around Slinky Dog Dash unless it shows an operating status.
- Choose a second priority: Toy Story Mania, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, or another headliner can absorb the first hour instead.
- Keep the park reservation: One attraction outage does not close Toy Story Land or Hollywood Studios.
- Recheck during the day: An unplanned ride can return without much advance notice, but no return should be assumed.
The Hollywood Studios planning guide can help rebuild the park order around the attractions that are actually operating.
