Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will temporarily close beginning September 9, 2026. Its final scheduled operating day is September 8, and Disney is directing water-park guests to Blizzard Beach during the closure.
That timing creates a clean break for late-summer trips: the last day Typhoon Lagoon is scheduled to operate is also the last arrival date for Disney’s 2026 resort check-in water-park benefit. Fall visitors will still have a Disney water park available, but they will not have the same two-park choice offered during the summer.

Three Typhoon Lagoon Dates to Know
- September 5: The final scheduled Disney H2O Glow After Hours event at Typhoon Lagoon.
- September 8: Typhoon Lagoon’s last scheduled operating day and the final eligible arrival date for the 2026 resort check-in water-park benefit.
- September 9: Typhoon Lagoon’s temporary closure begins; Blizzard Beach remains available.
These are separate pieces of the schedule. H2O Glow is a separately ticketed nighttime event, the resort benefit is tied to an eligible hotel’s check-in day, and normal water-park admission follows its own ticket rules.
Blizzard Beach Will Remain Open
The closure does not leave Walt Disney World without a water park. Disney’s notice specifically encourages guests to visit Blizzard Beach while Typhoon Lagoon is unavailable.
Blizzard Beach has a different personality and attraction mix. Its ski-resort theme surrounds Summit Plummet, Teamboat Springs, Cross Country Creek, and Tike’s Peak. Families who planned around Typhoon Lagoon’s surf pool or Crush ‘n’ Gusher should compare the lineup before deciding whether Blizzard Beach still fits their group.
Disney has described the Typhoon Lagoon closure as temporary, but the notice does not publish a reopening date. Avoid treating an unofficial estimate as part of a winter itinerary. Check the official Typhoon Lagoon page again as your travel dates approach.
The Free Check-In-Day Benefit Ends First
Registered guests at eligible Disney Resorts Collection hotels can receive admission to one Disney water park on their check-in day for arrivals from May 26 through September 8, 2026. Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are available during that summer window.
An arrival on September 9 or later is outside the announced 2026 benefit period. Staying at a Disney hotel after that date does not automatically include a Blizzard Beach visit. Guests who want to go should price regular water-park admission or check whether their existing ticket includes the Water Park and Sports option.
The check-in benefit cannot be moved to a different vacation day, so an eligible September 8 arrival needs to use it on September 8. Disney also notes that admission is subject to availability and that water parks can close for weather or other operational reasons.
What Changes for Late-Summer Trips?
Guests arriving by September 8 still have the broadest choice: use the included check-in-day admission at either water park, subject to availability. If Typhoon Lagoon is the priority, September 8 is the last scheduled chance before the temporary closure.
Guests visiting from September 9 onward should build the water-park portion of the trip around Blizzard Beach. That may affect transportation timing, attraction priorities, and whether a water-park ticket is worth buying for the group.

How to Plan Around the Closure
- Confirm your dates: September 8 is the last scheduled Typhoon Lagoon day, not September 9.

- Compare attractions: Decide whether Blizzard Beach works for your party before buying a water-park add-on.
- Recheck hours: Water-park schedules can change because of weather, refurbishment, or operations.
- Do not assume a reopening date: Wait for Disney to publish one before anchoring a future trip around Typhoon Lagoon.
This is a meaningful planning change, but not a full shutdown of Disney’s water-park option. The safest fall plan is to treat Blizzard Beach as the available park and Typhoon Lagoon as unavailable until Disney announces otherwise.
