Art of Animation’s Refurbishment Spans About 16 Months
The project begins in mid-June 2027 and continues through October 2028. Disney says work will move through one area at a time, allowing the rest of the resort to remain open and bookable.
Guests in or near the active section may see or hear construction during daytime hours. Disney has not published overnight-work language, a daily work schedule, or a resort-wide amenity closure tied to this announcement.
Four Themed Areas Could Feel Very Different by Date

Disney has not revealed the order of those phases or individual start and end dates. That makes the room category and active construction section more useful than the overall 2027–2028 range when evaluating a specific stay.
Ask One Question Before Changing Resorts
Closer to arrival, ask which section is active and whether the booked room category is near it. A park-heavy family may accept daytime work, while guests planning pool breaks, naps, or long resort afternoons may value more distance.
Do not expect a guaranteed construction-free room unless Disney offers that promise in writing. Room requests are requests, and the phase may shift as work progresses.
The Skyliner Has Separate Downtime
Art of Animation also loses Disney Skyliner service during announced winter maintenance. The 2027 closure runs January 24–30, before the room project begins. The 2028 closure runs January 24–February 2 while the room refurbishment is underway, with complimentary buses replacing gondolas.
