A temporary traffic shift is scheduled for Floridian Way on August 10, 2026, changing the route used by guests driving toward Magic Kingdom-area resorts. Resort entrances are expected to stay open, but the work zone will not yet be in its final configuration.

What Changes on August 10
Drivers are expected to move onto a newly built section of Floridian Way while the World Drive North project advances. Traffic will temporarily use lanes built for southbound travel so crews can construct the future northbound side.
Two of the project’s three roundabouts are already in place. The third will be built closer to the Magic Kingdom parking lot, which is one reason the August setup should be treated as an interim route rather than the finished roadway.
Resort Access Is Expected to Stay Open
Temporary connector driveways are expected to maintain access to the Grand Floridian’s main entrance, the Polynesian Island Tower, and the Grand Floridian Wedding Pavilion. Guests staying in this area should not read “traffic shift” as a resort closure.
The practical risk is confusion at a newly changed intersection. Navigation apps can lag behind active construction, so use GPS for the broad route but give posted signs and traffic-control directions priority near the resorts.
How to Plan the Drive
- Leave a buffer: add 10 to 15 minutes for the first days of the shift, especially around park opening and evening arrivals.
- Confirm your entrance: resort check-in instructions may be more current than a saved map route.
- Do not assume the first roundabout exit: temporary connectors may differ from the eventual road layout.
- Expect more phases: the full project is now expected to continue through December 21, 2027.
