Zootopia: Better Zoogether! on DisneyWorld.com now starts with a new Mayor Brian Winddancer pre-show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It adds a short story setup before the main 4D show rather than replacing the attraction.
The change is operating and has been documented on video. Disney’s public attraction page had not yet added the pre-show details when we checked, so presentation and timing can still evolve.

What Happens in the New Pre-Show
Mayor Brian Winddancer, the 54th mayor of Zootopia and a character from Zootopia 2, opens the experience with a press conference about Zoogether Day. Patrick Warburton voices the former action hero turned politician.
During the presentation, the mayor learns that someone may be trying to disrupt the celebration. He tries to reassure the crowd, then calls for the “bunny and fox” to handle the problem. That sends guests into the main show with a clearer reason for Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to become involved.

The public video shows the full new setup. If you prefer to experience a show without story spoilers, skip the video and arrive early enough to catch the pre-show in person.
This Changes Arrival More Than Ride Strategy
The practical difference is simple: walking in at the last second can now mean missing part of the setup. Build a few extra minutes into your arrival, especially if you want everyone in the group seated and focused before the main presentation begins.
Better Zoogether is inside the Tree of Life Theater. It opened in November 2025 as the replacement for It’s Tough to Be a Bug, so this update is an addition to a still-new attraction rather than another full changeover.
Mayor Winddancer Is Not a Character Greeting
The mayor appears as part of the pre-show presentation. This is not a meet-and-greet, and guests should not expect an autograph, photo line, or posted appearance time.

Is the Addition Worth Changing Your Park Plan?
No major itinerary rebuild is needed. Guests who already planned to see Better Zoogether now get a little more Zootopia 2 context. Fans who skipped the attraction because they wanted more story may find the revised opening more appealing.
The biggest unknown is whether Disney considers this the final version. Pre-shows can be adjusted as operations settle, and Disney has not posted a separate duration or schedule for the Mayor Winddancer segment.
