A 13-month refurbishment is coming to the convention side of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Work begins August 10, 2026, and is scheduled to continue through late September 2027, but this is not a closure of the entire hotel.

The practical issue for overnight guests is location. The project includes the Convention Center, El Centro Corridor, and nearby areas, so visitors may encounter temporary detours or hear overnight work even while rooms, restaurants, transportation, and other resort operations continue.

Coronado Springs Refurbishment Quick Details

  • Starts: August 10, 2026
  • Scheduled completion: late September 2027
  • Main area: Coronado Springs Convention Center
  • Also included: El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas
  • Work plan: phased closures with most work overnight

The project covers meeting and event areas that include the Coronado Ballroom, Fiesta Ballroom, Veracruz Exhibition Hall, and smaller meeting rooms. Disney plans to take individual spaces out of service as needed instead of closing the full complex for the entire project.

The Resort Is Not Closing

The most important distinction is that this announcement applies to the convention and El Centro area. It does not mean Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will stop accepting hotel guests for more than a year.

Disney says the phased approach is meant to keep daily resort operations moving. Guests should still be able to check in, dine, use Disney transportation, and visit the resort’s recreation areas, though a specific corridor or meeting space may be unavailable at times.

Who Is Most Likely to Notice the Work?

Convention attendees have the biggest planning question because room assignments and walking routes may change from one phase to another. Event organizers, rather than a general resort map, will have the most useful instructions for a specific meeting.

Leisure guests staying near Gran Destino Tower or moving through El Centro may also notice temporary barriers, construction views, or rerouted paths. Casitas guests often approach the same central area for dining and lobby services, so a few extra minutes of walking may be wise during busier phases.

Most work is planned overnight. That reduces interference with daytime check-in and meetings, but light sleepers may care more about room placement than guests who spend long days in the parks. A request for a room away from active work is reasonable, although Disney never guarantees a particular building or view.

What Disney Has Not Detailed Yet

Disney has not released a room-by-room closure calendar or renderings of the finished convention spaces. The announcement also does not identify which nights will involve the loudest work. Those details can change as crews move through each phase.

If the convention area affects your stay, check the resort notice again shortly before arrival and ask about the active phase at check-in. That is more reliable than assuming conditions will stay the same throughout a project that runs into 2027.

Should This Change a Coronado Springs Booking?

For most park-focused vacations, this looks like something to plan around rather than an automatic reason to switch resorts. The hotel remains open, and the phased schedule is designed to limit disruption. Guests booking a quiet resort-heavy trip or attending an event should give the work more weight.
