Main Street is so much more than just meeting Mickey Mouse and shopping. This in-depth post will look at EVERYTHING you can do on Main Street!
Main Street, U.S.A.
Main Street, U.S.A. is the first land you enter after arriving at the Magic Kingdom. Main Street, themed after turn-of-the-century Marceline, Missouri, is a love letter to Walt Disney’s hometown. Ice cream parlors, horse-drawn trolleys, and even a working barber shop transport us to a bygone era, while mind-blowing projection mappings, upscale jewelry, and incredible photo technology transport us to the future.
Main Street has a lot to offer. Unfortunately, many people rush right by on their way to rope drop headliner attractions in the morning. Then, at night, they are too tired from a long day to stop and enjoy everything it has to offer. There is so much to do in this small area that I believe you could spend the entire day here just taking it all in.
It runs from the train station all the way down to Cinderella Castle.
Let’s take a stroll down Main Street and see what it has to offer. There is a lot more than meets the eye, from attractions to food to entertainment!
Attractions
Walt Disney World Railroad: As they ride the Walt Disney World Railroad, guests can hear the engine roar, the chug of the wheels, and the call of the whistle. Walt loved trains, and railroads can be found in almost every Disney theme park around the world. Main Street is home to one of the three stations.
Main Street Vehicles: The Main Street vehicles offer guests the option of riding in a horse-drawn trolley, an omnibus, a jitney, or a fire engine down Main Street. They are only open for a limited time each day, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Ride up and down Main Street, waving to passers-by along the way!
Food
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant: Tony’s, which is themed after the film Lady and the Tramp, serves classic Italian dishes such as spaghetti, fettuccine Alfredo, and tiramisu. Tony’s Town Square is on your right as you enter Magic Kingdom. The restaurant is directly across the street from the Town Square Theater, where you can meet Mickey Mouse.
Main Street Confectionery: The Main Street Confectionary is a shop on Main Street, United States of America that sells a variety of delectable treats sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Consider an old-fashioned candy shop selling everything your sugar-craving heart could desire! It was also recently renovated to include a diverse backstory.
Main Street Bakery: Main Street Bakery is similar to Starbucks. Starbucks drink creations and food items are available here. Because the line can be quite long in the morning, I prefer to go there in the afternoon.
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor: Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is the place to go for a delicious ice cream sundae or cone. It is, as expected, an old-fashioned ice cream parlor.
The Plaza Restaurant: The Plaza Restaurant, located at the end of Main Street, provides stunning views of Cinderella Castle in a turn-of-the-century setting. The food is fast-casual and includes many simple favorites that guests can enjoy. I enjoy sitting near the windows because the views of the Castle are spectacular!
Casey’s Corner: Casey’s Corner is located in the northwest corner, just before the Cinderella Castle hub area. This historic restaurant pays homage to baseball, America’s national pastime! Enjoy hot dogs, corn dogs, fries, and more while admiring the park’s views.
The Crystal Palace: The Crystal Palace offers a buffet in a beautiful setting. The theme is Victorian greenhouses from the late 1800s, and the interior is light and airy. It houses the only character dining establishment on Main Street. You can also see your old friends from the Hundred Acre Woods.
Various carts: In the hub area, you will find popcorn and ice cream carts.
Characters
Mickey Mouse: In Town Square Theater, meet Magician Mickey Mouse. You can meet him by using Genie+! PhotoPass is available in this location.
Snow White: Snow White and her friends meet on the small porch next to Town Square Theater. Her scheduled times and additional information can be found on the official My Disney Experience app.
Shopping
Curtain Call Collectibles and Box Office Gifts: These two shops in Town Square Theater sell clothing, accessories, art and collectibles, Mickey ears, toys, and other items. In the Magic Kingdom, Box Office Gifts also houses Disney’s PhotoPass service.
Harmony Barber Shop (technically listed as a shop): In an old-fashioned setting, this barbershop offers hair cuts for both children and adults. Reservations can be made online up to 60 days in advance. Reservations are strongly advised. This is a fantastic first haircut experience – you get a certificate and a Mickey hat!
Emporium and Disney Clothiers: The Emporium is Magic Kingdom Park’s largest gift and souvenir shop, selling apparel, plush toys, pins, candy, home goods, and just about anything else you can think of! Following that, Disney Clothiers is linked to Emporium and houses even more Disney merchandise. Spirit Jerseys, t-shirts, and children’s clothing are available.
Main Street Cinema and Uptown Jewelers: Shop for keepsakes, accessories, art, and other items at Main Street Cinema. Disney Parks Collection PANDORA charms, designer-brand handbags, watches, and Disney figurines are available at Uptown Jewelers.
Crystal Arts: Make your visit to Main Street sparkle! Hand-blown glass figurines and handmade glassware are created by artisans.
Silhouette Portraits: The Silhouette Portraits cart can be found between Uptown Jewelers and Crystal Arts on Main Street. In just a few minutes, a talented artist hand cuts old-fashioned silhouette portraits. This is a fantastic experience that I recommend everyone try at least once!
Entertainment
Flag Retreat: Every day at 5:00 p.m., witness a beautiful tribute to our flag and those who protect it. This daily ritual includes music and the presentation of the flag to a service member or veteran who parades it down Main Street.
Festival of Fantasy Parade: This (usually twice daily) parade pays homage to Disney’s fun Fantasy films. The parade can be seen on Main Street around the hub, down Main Street, and around Town Square. Genie+ can also be used to create a dedicated viewing area.
Main Street Philharmonic: The Main Street Philharmonic is a John Phillip Suza Marching Band that performs songs from the turn of the century as well as Disney classics. Their times and schedules can be found on the official My Disney Experience app.
The Dapper Dans: The Dappers are a traditional barbershop quartet that regularly performs on Main Street and in Town Square. They sing classic turn-of-the-century songs and may even include some Disney favorites.
Casey’s Corner Pianist: Hear a pianist perform turn-of-the-century songs as well as Disney medleys right outside Casey’s Corner.
Let the Magic Begin: With a cast of characters, music, and dancing, this quick 5-minute stage show officially opens Magic Kingdom for the day.
Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire: This performance is also held on the Cinderella Castle stage. It lasts 25 minutes and occurs daily in the morning and afternoon. Guests can enjoy a joyous Renaissance-style “faire” with Tiana and Naveen, Rapunzel and Flynn, and Frozen characters when they visit Mickey and his friends.
Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade: Cavalcades are less formal parades. This one has the most Disney characters of any cavalcade, including characters from Zootopia, The Jungle Book, Three Caballeros, Miguel, Merida, Moana, The Incredibles, Toy Story, and others. It runs several times per day.
Happily Ever After: Finish your day with everyone’s favorite nighttime show. The show includes fireworks, projection mapping on the castle and Main Street, and our favorite Disney characters and songs. This show should not be missed! Be sure to find a spot as soon as possible!
PhotoPass
Roy O. Disney and Minnie Mouse “Sharing the Magic” Statue: This spot is located in Town Square by the flagpole. Grab a photo on the bench with Roy and Minnie with all of Main Street in the background.
Various Main Street opportunities in front of Cinderella Castle: All up and down Main Street, you can find Photographers. It is incredibly congested, so I prefer to get those photos later in the evening before the park closes.
East and West Plaza Garden: PhotoPass photographers can be found on each side of the plaza garden in the hub. These locations are usually less crowded, but Cinderella Castle is angled differently.
Super Zoom Magic Shot: These awesome Magic Shots can be found in all of the parks. Take a picture with Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom’s hub area. Proceed to the plaza lawn in front of The Plaza Restaurant.
Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse “Partners” Statue: Every visit to Magic Kingdom should include a photo opportunity in front of the world-famous Partners Statue! Expect some background noise because it is very busy here all day.
Tours and Other Experiences
Keys to the Kingdom Tour: The tour begins with a check-in at Town Square Theater. Then, for the first part of the tour, your guide will take you around Town Square and down Main Street before heading to other parts of the park.
Coin Press Machines: The cost of pressed pennies is 50 cents plus the penny. Quarters that have been pressed cost 75 cents plus the quarter. They are available at Disney Clothiers, Emporium, Main Street Firehouse, Railroad Station, News Stand, and Tony’s Town Square Restaurant.
Guest Relations: Guest Relations can be found in City Hall on Town Square. There are also ECV and wheelchair rentals, stroller rentals, and other amenities near the park’s main entrance. If you want to mail a letter from Disney, look for the mailboxes beneath the train station and near City Hall!
