Disney’s Blizzard Beach, the frosty-themed water park at Walt Disney World Resort, is set to remain closed until the beginning of January 2024 due to the unusually cold weather in Central Florida. The park, which originally planned to close from December 28, 2023, to December 31, 2023, has extended its closure through January 2, 2024, and is scheduled to reopen on January 3, 2024.

The extended closure is a result of the chilly weather forecast for the coming week, with highs in the mid-60s and partly cloudy conditions. Blizzard Beach has experienced multiple closures this season due to adverse weather, but this is the most extended closure yet.

Since its reopening on November 6, 2023, Blizzard Beach has had several unplanned closures. It closed early on November 16, was closed for all of Thanksgiving Day and the following day, November 24, and closed again on November 28 and 29 due to low temperatures. The park also closed on December 6, 7, and 11, as well as from December 16 through December 20 due to storms and low temperatures.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach is known for its winter-themed attractions, including the slushy Summit Plummet and the frosty Cross Country Creek. While the cold temperatures may be a bummer for visitors, they provide the perfect opportunity to explore other attractions at Walt Disney World Resort.
